Document Management With Your MFP?

By Tim Nissen
FYI…
Copier lease renewal time
isn’t the dread it used to be. The competition’s there for sure, but now
you have an advantage: electronic document management software.
This play’s been parlayed as
the ‘solution sale’ during the past half-dozen or so years; only
recently has the solution worked for both seller and buyer. It’s always
been nice to provide document management capability to your clientele –
it boosted your revenue and entranced buyers with promise of information
organization and access. Problem was, the theory was superior to the
practice; much software product was cumbersome and functionally limited,
so its use was similarly curtailed.
Software developers (the ISV
crowd) heard user’s bemoaning banter, and have answered demand with
product that’s both easy to sell and use. Accompanying these new
offerings is a notable ‘de-teching’ of back office talk too often
circulated for public consumption, so sellers and buyers need little
technical aptitude or interest to understand these new programs.
Admittedly, this is as significant an evolution as the products
themselves… (We at DocuLex are vitalizing our website to get closer to
communication that communicates; hopefully the new site will be up by
the time you read this. Make sure your website and other communication
mediums convey your offerings simplistically, too.)
Back to the capabilities’
attraction. Everyone’s pain point involves not having needed information
when and where they need it. Electronic document management today
remedies this ache, with Internet-easy retrieval software accompanied by
automated capture programs suitable for use with any document scanning
device. Simplification is satisfaction.
So when clients’ renewal time
comes (or new unit opps arise), offer them electronic document
management software as well – it’s advantageous for all.u
