Server-Free Document Hosting

By Tim Nissen
Amongst the advancing demand
for off-site hosting of companies’ must-keep information, two options
have manifested enabling you to offer this client retention and
reoccurring revenue service.
My place or yours?
If you trust the hosting
trend will continue, and you’re OK with the upfront infrastructure
investment (real estate, redundant server capacity, dedicated Internet
bandwidth, secure document management software, etc.) and operations
additions (tech and sales staff, marketing budget), building your own
hosting business makes sense. Margins are maximized, and you’re in
control of all facets (for better or a bit the bitter…).
If you have an aversion to
commitment (I understand…), or aren’t currently in position to incur the
admittedly substantial cost, may want to 3rd party (Server-Free!) your
hosting program. A rapidly increasing collection of dedicated document
hosting colleagues are developing throughout North and South America,
many being traditional paper & tape records storage centers who have
added this ‘Instant Document Access’ ability to their services portfolio
(I spoke to one the other day who has recently entered the biz, and are
fiscally fitted they did – Florida Data Bank of Tallahassee –
www.floridadatabank.com). Margin’s are lower, but so are your costs;
it’s a push that will allow to survey the service’s potential in your
neighborhood.
One of these options will
work for you, and further your value to your clients, and them to you.
It’s your operational call; both can bolster your business.
So shake some action! u
