Keith Clausen has the brain of an aeronautical engineer with the heart of an entrepreneur. “I have always enjoyed taking things apart, seeing how they work, and putting them back together again. I am a high-energy, get-involved sort of guy. I have always had an entrepreneurial side,” says Clausen.

“I started PSS when I was working nights as an aircraft mechanic.” He explains, “A friend of mine first introduced me to printer repair. It was a natural match for me. I worked days as a printer repairman and learned a lot about compatible products. Soon, my garage doubled as a manufacturing plant. I really enjoyed seeing how the printers and their toner cartridges worked. I found better ways to create a reliable product. Clausen continues, “My commitment to establishing a viable company provided the stimulation to continue working at my well-paying night job as well as growing my printer company by day. I used the money I earned from being an airplane mechanic to support my family. My business plan emphasized reinvesting all my printer company profits back into PSS. I was 100 percent committed to making PSS a long-term success.”

“I stayed the course. By the time the airline business took a big hit after 9/11, I had established a very viable, financially secure business. The timing was right.
