Subject: Gestetner 2212

Question:  I have a customer who has an old Gestetner 2212 that he wants to get running. It has a SC 542 code on it. Being a Kyocera tech, I have no service manuals of any kind. Can anyone help? Thanks

Answer:  From the Service Manual:  Fusing temperature warm-up error.  The fusing temperature does not reach the standby temperature within 20 seconds after the main switch is turned on.  This is the same machine as the Ricoh 1022, 1027

Answer: Order the thermistors and replace them.  Then you can confidently reset error code sp 5-810-1 OFF-_ON (FIXED).

Subject: Panasonic 7742

Question:  Machine has washed out solids. When you run an 11-17, the first 8 1/2 x 11 of the page copies just fine.  But only about 1 inch of the trail edge copies and the rest in between 11 and about 16” is blank.  Our tech tried t/s corona, hvt board. Main board, dev unit and drum units.  I am going to go Monday and take a peek.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer: Check springs on 2/3 corona assembly that are making contact with HVPS. Also check fuser entrance guide: too high or too low will cause legal and ledger size paper to buckle over the 2/3 corona causing poor transfer.

Answer: Check drum grounding contact on drum.

Answer: I had almost that exact problem on a Panasonic fp-d350.  I ended up changing the complete trans/sep unit and swapped it with one from another 350 that was making good copies. I had tried all that you had mentioned and then some with no luck. I never figured out what was wrong with t/s unit. Everything appeared to be exactly in same condition as replacement but replacement worked. Never had a callback for same problem again.

Answer: Have you checked to see if you have an image on the drum? Also, did you replace the corona unit with a new one? Is the blanking lamp on all of the drum rotation? Remove drum and watch as you make a copy. You will have to cheat the interlock switch. I have worked on Panasonic 7735 for years and a few 7742s. Hope this helps.

Question:  Thanks for all the input and ideas; I will check them when I travel there Monday. The tech said he did stop paper under drum and had a solid black on drum so, the whole springs on the 2/3 corona is a possible cause as well as the fuser guide.  Thanks again.

Answer: When you say “washed out” do mean totally blank or blurred? If it is washed out, make a reduction copy of 11x17 to letter and see how that looks. If trail of that image is blurry then it’s a mirror alignment problem, make sure spring at front of 4/5 mirror assy is on. If totally blank, replace transfer and primary assy’s especially if there are any E310 codes in the history of F8-06. Hope this helps.

Question:  Thanks again for all the input. I went up today and took a look. I found that the track which the t/s corona slides in on is attached to the transport deck with two screws.  These screws were loose so when putting deck up, the transfer corona drooped.  I tightened the screws and thus solved the problem. Thanks again!

Subject: SHARP 2035

Question:  Help! Machine makes good copies when copying one at a time but gets blurry on the last 3 inches when copying multiple copies except last copy. Machine appears to slow down or struggle when paper feed section starts.

Answer: DV or fuser unit are too heavy, lubricate drive unit in the back of the copier.   You might want to change whole DV unit or lube.

Answer: Might need main drive motor replaced, I’ve had to replace quite a few over the years.

Answer: Replace speed change unit.

Subject: Panasonic DP-3510 error code E04-01......???

Question:  Any help with this code is appreciated. TY in advance!!

Answer: Fuser error you may have to go into service mode under F9 to reset.

Question:  Excuse my ignorance on this machine. I am not a Panasonic guy. I am doing this for a friend. What caused this error code? How do I get into the service mode to reset this error code?

Answer: Service mode is entered when “function,” “original size”, and the number “3” keys are pressed simultaneously. Then “F1” will appear in the display.  Press #9 on key pad to bring up the “unit maintenance” part of the service modes, (#1= self test, #2=single copy test, #3=continuous copy test, and so on).  Once in “unit maintenance”, go to #6 in the sub menu (which will be “RAM INITIALIZE”). Then go to #4 in that sub menu. (This will be “LBP FUSER RESET”). Once LBP FUSER RESET is selected it will either reboot copier on its own or will prompt you to “reset power” (can’t remember which one it says.). This will reset your E4-01 code.  I have found that most of the time, the thermistors are dirty, causing them to not read temperature correctly.  Remove and inspect the fuser and clean the thermistors BEFORE resetting the error code. In case you ever happen to go into the service modes to look around or to perform some other kind of adjustment here is a little tip: to exit from service modes you have to press “function” and “clear” at same time (you will not have to exit modes in this manner when you perform your fuser reset). Hope this helps. Good luck.
