FREE TECH HELP August 2007 Subject: Minolta CF 910 Question: I just picked up a new customer with this machine and it is showing error code of C0060. I have Jim’s manuals up to the 12th but they don’t cover color. Any help please. Thank you. Answer: You have a fuser drive error, failure of motor M17 (fuser drive motor). This is out of the Konica 7823 manual, which is the same machine. Good luck Answer: Check the fuser unit for worn/damaged parts or rollers. If the fuser unit turns freely, check drive asm on the rear frame. If everything checks out, then the motor or the PWB-I is the bad part. FYI - an average service call will take 1.5-2 hrs - a 30k PM about 5 hours. Subject: Sharp SF 2414 Question: This Sharp SF 2414 keeps running and running, it will not go to ready mode for copy, and the power saving light keep flashing, and no error code. I have checked the fuser lamp, thermal fuse, and the thermistor. They are all OK, Can anyone help and give me advice! Thank you Answer: Have you got any toner in it? Answer: Hello, You may have even a new toner, but take toner unit out and look in the hole it came out of. You may find the foam seal blocking where the toner goes in. This happens while loading a new toner. Good Luck, Larry Answer: Take the end of the toner holder apart. There are Mylar pieces that get bound up. Tear them out & vacuum unit. Also check the gear that turns the auger inside the toner cartridge, I’ve seen the screw that holds the gear in place, loosen up or the threads break apart. Hope this helps Question: Thank you everyone for all the advice. It is the foam seal blocking where the toner goes in, after I removed it the machine is working fine. Again thank you very much for all your help. Subject: Ricoh Aficio 2018 Question: Machine has 72,000 copies on it, and when making copies, has specks of toner rear frame side down entire 8 1/2” rear side in a strip about 3/8” wide, about an inch in from the edge. Took everything apart, cleaned and vacuumed, and everything looks good. Help! Thank you Answer: the upper seal in the drum unit goes bad lets the used toner drop on copies you have to replace the whole upper drum case if that’s it Question: I did have the drum unit apart, and the seal above the blade looked good. Again, it has only 72,000 copies on machine, but I will look again. Thank you! Answer: PM machine main c roller drum devo etc., machine specs show 60k PM cycle. Check auger in drum unit, but most likely it will just need PMed Subject: Canon PC980 Question: I am working on a Canon PC980. The feed rollers will not turn and pick up the paper, I replaced the tension spring on the pick up roller shaft that did not help. Answer: Turn the machine around so you are looking at the back of it. Open the clamshell. On the bottom frame there is a pivoting lever with drive gears on it. Does that lever have a spring attached to it? If not then you have to find the spring somewhere near that set of gears. Then you have to figure out how to reattach the spring to the lower frame once more. Question: the spring is attached and all the gears seem to be engaging. Answer: The next step is to look at the bottom of the machine. And I believe you said you have already put the feed roll tension spring back on. Take the right side plate off. Inside the machine you will find a screw holding a cover plate next to and on the interior side of the feed rolls. Take that out. And remove the plastic cover plate/guide. Then look to see if the secondary drive gear has jumped out of its track. A lot of times this gear being out of its track will cause a grinding noise. One other idea to try that has worked for me in the past. Also under this plate is the release solenoid for the paper pick up rollers. In a few cases the sound deadener foam has become gummy holding the solenoid release in place. Take that foam out. That way the solenoid plate can release. Subject: Toshiba 4550 Question: Got a call for an old tosh 4550 that is acting up. When doing 1 copy at a time, its ok, perfect CQ. But when doing multiple copies, the 4th copy gets 1/2 print only, and the 5th gets totally blank. I thought developer at first and changed developers. Problem persists. Adjusted charge voltage and T/S voltages. Problem still persists. Anyone have other ideas? Answer: Sounds like you have shorting corona end blocks, I would insulate or change them, and also there is an insulator block located on the front side on the top half of the clamshell that shorts. You may want to check that also. Right near the drum unit, good luck. Question: Might as well change the entire T/S grid. Will keep you posted Answer: Sounds like the registration clutch is not shutting off in time causing the problem you explain. I would also change the registration clutch. Very common problem on older Toshiba’s. Good luck Subject: Panasonic DP 4510 Question: Getting an error code e7-27. Tried clearing the code but cannot get past it so there is no way of trouble shooting. Is anyone familiar with this code or how to get around it and trouble shoot? According to the code it could be Finisher lift motor, shift motor, sensor, mechanism, board, or upper lift switch. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, the machine was making perfect copies before a move. So something happened between A and B in the machines move. When they installed the machine, it came up with the error code. Answer: Hi mate, this is a finisher error, try to reset the finisher bins (lift them up and reset the power) also check the bin sensors and lift motor. Answer: Power off the copier. Lift the lower tray up one notch and then unplug the finisher from the machine then fire up the machine so that it comes to a ready state. Make a copy of the machine info, then turn off both switches then plug in the finisher and the finisher should make it back to home position and you should be ok. Question: Thanks guys will give it a shot. Answer: Make sure you recycle power with the tech power switch, or unplug it. The end users switch doesn’t seem to reset this code. Been there done that with a customer that always called Friday morning with that same code. Found out cleaning crew was setting trash can under finisher bins.
