FREE TECH HELP July 2007 Subject: Copystar 2050 Question: I have not been out to check this machine yet, but a customer said that when he tries to offset sort, the machines comes up saying, “call service”. It could be because the offset sort is disabled, or because he doesn’t have the paper size correctly in the cassettes letter a-r. Thanks. Answer: I’m not sure Frank, but I am thinking these two things are not related. You know how customers can be when describing a problem. However, if it did say call service, you should be able to look up the code through the simulation program. Any time it says call service, it should also be throwing a numbered error code. Answer: Maybe one of the two paper drawers needed for this function has become disabled. Find source of trouble and reset with U906. Question: For the Copystar 2050, when the machine is rotate sort mode, it will work until he tries to make 10 sets of something, and it will work when he makes 9 sets or 3 sets; the code is c3200. Shading problem exposure, or board problem. Again works fine in sort mode only on the glass or through the adf, but when he tries to offset sort more than 9 groups, it will say call for service c3200. Thanks for any help. It is like the 23rd or 24th copy. Answer: If you have a stick of memory handy for this machine, stick it in the machine and see if the problem goes away. Subject: KM-3035 rotate sort? Question: Can this model do it right? What menu setting do I use? I am out on the field, and forgot the laptop AND the Intravia guide! I will be going to the customer’s office in about two hours! :-) Answer: Two paper cassettes are needed. 8 1/2 x 11 portrait, and 8 1/2 x 11 landscape. Select sort from panel. That’s it, very simple. Answer: I believe it is in the default settings. The “copy default” option, I think. Scroll down with your arrow key, and I think you will run across the option. I have a 4035 on the floor now. I will go and double check to see if that is right and post what I find out. Answer: You might want to try “offset sort”. That will do two different things depending on if there is a finisher installed or not. Answer: If it’s a problem for them to put the two trays in opposite directions, might use by-pass, or I have the Two Drawer pedestal used in stock you can have for the shipping cost. You will have to clean it up, but I can give you new rollers to install in it. Question: Thanks a whole bunch, guys. Bill, I may take you up on that, but you do so much around here. Let me at least send you some goodies for that. You can even use my UPS #. BTW—anyone have a F71 or F73 finisher for one of these with the hardware? :-) Subject: sharp ARM-237 diag.reset help Question: Hello, got this one with an error H4-01; hoping to reset this with your assistance, thanks. Answer: #,*,c,*, 14, start. Answer: You really should have a technician look at it; h4 can cause a fire. Answer: If not a fire, then a total meltdown of the fusing unit; that is a very costly item to repair. Question: Thanks for your assistance. Subject: SHARP SD3062 error codes Question: My customer has a Sharp SD3062 with error code L402; tried to find info. on this, but not able to find exact reasoning. Any help appreciated. Answer: Where did you look for the info on this? It’s in the service manual: Drive section lock. Answer: Trouble: Drive Section Lock. The main motor specified rpm is not detected within 1 sec. from the ON command time. Check the main motor for normal operation with TC 25-1. Clear the self diagnostic display with TC 14. Good Luck. Answer: Drive problems check, fuser drive, paper feed all moving gears; I tell my customer this is the old age death code. Do yourself and them a favor, and sell them something new and make some money. Just my opinion. Answer: Check waste toner auger. If everything turns OK but you still get the code, check the fuses on the dc PWB as one of them has blown. If all that fails, check the drives. Subject: Kyocera 5050 Question: Jamming when using the large paper deck, only it jams in the conveying section; all switches check out fine in simulation 31. The same paper deck is on the color machines km-c3232. I also have one of them doing the same thing. Answer: if you pull out the paper feed assembly, (that long black thing the paper pushes into, one screw) check to see if a black stud is broken off; had this problem with a few 35’ series copiers. Also on these models, the top drawer doesn’t hold a full 500 sheets of paper over 8.5x11; it will hold 500 8.5x11, but nothing over. Answer: Cancel that, I missed the “large paper deck” part. Answer: Late, sorry. Try U906-resetting partial operation control. I had a couple of problems (although they were total lock out type) that it fixed.
