I was invited to TechParts to discuss their new product line of Wide Format Drums for Oce’, Kip, Xerox, and Ricoh. Walking into the corporate headquarters of TechParts is like taking a step back into the good old days of the copier business; BTA membership plates on the wall, community awards, photos, brochures, and a feeling of comfort and hospitality. I was greeted by content people, who welcomed me into their security zone. They were anxious to show me the new color of these new photoreceptors, and what they will mean to the industry. It is rare to be instantly at ease, and at the same time feel the electric atmosphere created by a sphere of confidence.

After speaking with TechParts’ President, Tage Johnson and General Manager, Chuck Cotrell, I understood my comfort level. TechParts is full of technical people. The business is designed by field engineers, and the goal is to fulfill the needs of the technical service industry.

TechParts was founded in 1995 by Tage Johnson and Vern Garner. They have an extensive technical, service, and parts development background. “Tech Parts was created by techs for techs.” They provide a valued choice for replacement parts for wide format equipment.

“Our specialty is wide format equipment replacement parts and these new photoreceptors are a large part of that.” Tage simply states, “TechParts, Inc. is in the business of providing high quality replacement parts to self-service organizations that support Oce’, KIP, Xerox, and Ricoh Wide Format Printers. When you need us, we are there to deliver critical parts that you need to support your equipment. TechParts increases equipment value through quality product design and competitive prices.”

Tage continues, “In many cases the servicing dealer is not able to obtain the parts and drums that are required to properly service their customer’s wide format equipment. That’s where TechParts comes in. We provide many critical wide format parts and our new line of drums and technical assistance for Oce, KIP, Xerox, and Ricoh. In some cases we have manufactured our own brand of parts that complement the manufacturers’ offerings. We also have access to legacy parts that the OEM’s no longer have available for sale.”

TechParts sells to authorized and independent wide format dealers, as well as self maintainers. They provide friendly, knowledgeable service, including technical telephone assistant. TechParts’ online technical assistant experts pride themselves by helping others without having to hold to the manufactures’ line that is often encountered when dealing with the OEM’s technical hotline. “We tell it like it is”, states Vern Garner, a TechParts partner and Director of Service.

Vice President, Bob Broden, is in charge of parts development and fuser roller recoating. He explains, “We are more than a wholesaler of parts and drums. Our field engineers and customers are using compatible parts and drums that we are selling and enjoying the value.”

Technical Duplicator Services is a sister company that is involved by beta testing, and use these parts provided by TechParts.
