BUSINESS PROFILE: International Digital Solutions (IDS)

International Digital Solutions specializes in the wholesale distribution of segment one, two and Small Office and Home Office equipment, parts and supplies to dealers.   IDS’s core business is reselling Sharp segment one commercial machines and Sharp and Canon SOHO equipment.  IDS also provides a full line of the most popular SOHO and segment one and two supplies and parts from Sharp, Canon, Konica Minolta,  and Toshiba copiers, fax and multifunctionals.

IDS’s broad range of in-stock choices allows Southern Florida dealers to drop by and pick up a needed piece of equipment, parts or supplies for their customers.  Other dealers just call their local IDS rep and request same-day shipping of any needed products.  International dealers from the Caribbean, Central and South America have immediate access to the most requested equipment at competitive wholesale pricing.

IDS openly advertises their wholesale pricing in their ENX advertisements and on their Website www.idscopier.com .  Managing partner Cleon Joseph’s business philosophy is, “We want our dealers to feel comfortable doing business with IDS.  Local Tri-County Southern Florida dealers drop by on a regular basis.  We are a no-pressure reseller who welcomes our clients to walk into our warehouse to see what we have in stock each day.  This is especially important to our international dealers.  We have gained the trust of those who use freight forwarders. Trust is a very important element of our import /export market.

Our full warehouse and earned reputation for providing genuine, manufacturer-sealed boxes of new products is reassuring to those buyers from off-shore.  Over 60% of our business is completed on an export basis.  When you send a single machine or an entire container thousands of miles away, there is no room for error.  Our International dealers know that they can trust every member of our experienced staff to get their order right the first time.” 

Cleon Joseph’s industry experience dates back to being a sales rep for Sun International in the 1980’s.  When Sun was purchased by IKON, Cleon saw the proverbial handwriting on the wall and decided to go out on his own.  Today IDS operates within the family of FBA Holdings.

The feeling of friendliness, trust, and integrity can be felt when dealing with the entire staff.  IDS is small enough to provide personal care and an individual relationship with all of its customers; yet experienced enough to provide pertinent information and products.   IDS’s staff of eight has over 60 years of industry experience.  Cleon has worked with the majority of his staff for over ten years. “We are a well-oiled team of individuals who understands the needs of our customers,” says Cleon.

“Our sales staff is divided into domestic and international teams,” Cleon explains. “Each group understands the needs and nuisances of its dealers.  The enormous amount of industry knowledge of each of IDS’s sales reps simplifies the buying process.  Most of our dealer clients trust us to point them in the right direction.  Very often, their end-user customers trust them to help make the right choice.  Together, we can create a transaction that works for all concerned.  Right equipment, right price, delivered on time.”

At IDS, selling the equipment is only part of the equation.  They also provide new genuine OEM parts and supplies and selected compatibles.  They can also help their dealers to obtain manuals and parts lists as well as warranty fulfillment on the equipment that is sold.

IDS carries the most requested compatibles for their dealers. As a long time salesperson, Cleon understands that “some pricing constraints require a non-OEM bid.  Our goal is to make our dealers’ life easier.  When one-stop shopping is desirable, IDS will always try to deliver.  We understand this is very helpful to our international dealers who need to fill a container with a variety of needed products.  Our experienced buyers will always try to meet the needs of our dealers.”

IDS’s experienced sales team and buyers always welcome new challenges. Cleon explains, “We encourage our dealers to ask for our help in sourcing hard to obtain items.  We are always looking to expand our niche in the ever-changing market place.  We realize when one of our dealers needs a product; chances are others may be facing the same obstacles.  

Another way we help our dealers is to enable them to be competitive with the Super Stores pricing.  IDS warehouses the most popular models of OEM factory-certified refurbished equipment.  Very often in the SOHO market, the dealer must be creative in their pricing structure.  By offering both new and manufacturer’s refurbished models, IDS provides multiple choices to their dealers.  Our goal is to make it possible for our resellers to say ‘Yes’ to any of the end-user’s requests.  By only selling the manufacturer’s certified refurbished equipment, we have the full backing and endorsement of the manufacturer on all the products that IDS offers.”

IDS sells only to dealers.  Cleon explains, “Our dealers never need to fear that IDS will be in competition with them by selling to any of their customers.  IDS only offers genuine OEM equipment, parts and supplies to their valued dealer network.   We are strictly wholesale.  Before an account can be opened, we must receive a resellers’ number or international freight forwarder certificate.  We consider ourselves partners with our dealers, never competitors.”

Many of the IDS dealers are smaller operations, sometimes sole proprietors or companies with one or two employees.  All IDS employees offer respect and friendship to all levels of dealers.  “Some of our best customers are small Southern Florida dealers.  IDS offers an open warehouse policy.  Come and see the equipment, parts, and supplies that are ready for same day pick-up or shipping.”

Cleon Joseph continues, “The quality, quantity and diversity of our warehoused offerings ensures confidence for our International dealers to email, fax, or call with their orders.  IDS is a legitimate, honest, and honorable corporation.  We are in our second decade of business.  IDS has a proven track record of being ethical and dealer-friendly.” 

Its international buyers are always reassured when they stop by IDS’s Miami office to take a look at the products and equipment they will be buying for international export. Seeing is believing.  Its international buyers enjoy catching up on industry happenings, finding out about the manufacturers newest products and sharing the latest trends in their selling market.
