Subject: Cannon IR 5000 Finisher Problems

Question: I am having problems with a Canon IR 5020 finisher F-1. The exit rollers that hinge up and down seem to get out of timing occasionally and will cause the paper to crumple up and jam at the exit section on the finisher. I have this problem on a couple of machines I service, so I know it’s not an isolated problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer: There is a one-way bearing on a cam that lifts that unit that I would check.

Answer: Error Code E584 occurs on the Finisher-F1 or Saddle Finisher-F2.

Workaround: In this case, replacing the 50T Swing Gear Unit (FG6-6487-000) corrected the error.

Subject: LINES ON COPIES ON SHARP ARM 208

Question: I just replaced the drum and developer for light copies, and I still have a line. The fuser looks good and I cleaned the optics, yet I still have a line. I don’t know what to do next. Can somebody please help with this problem? Thanks in advance.

Answer: Did you clean the saw tooth charge unit? I found a piece of Styrofoam works well. Run a 64-1 self print; if it is in the optics, you won’t see it on self print.

Answer: If cleaning the saw tooth and screen doesn’t work, then you have to change the main Charge unit, which costs about $60. You can order the parts to rebuild it, but it’s a pain. Clean the screen with water.

Answer: Did you replace the entire drum unit or just rebuild theirs with a new drum and blade, and their charger?

Are you getting the line off the glass and with feeder or just through the feeder?  More info is helpful.

Answer: I have been cleaning the screen and saw tooth with baking soda and vinegar lately; it seems to be working better than my previous methods.

Question: I cleaned the charge corona which took care of the problem. Thanks for the help.

Subject: Konica 2223 Drum removal

Question: Guys, I need help with taking out a drum in a Konica 2223; I just couldn’t find the way. I’m an old Tech, but it’s my first time working on this copier.
