CJ came from
a financial background. Before starting Nu-Deluxe, he worked with Xerox
for seven years as a branch controller. He has viewed firsthand the
good, the bad and the ugly of a branch operation. CJ learned the
importance of being fiscally conservative in running his business. “The
better I manage our day-to-day operations, the lower our overhead rate.
This allows Nu-Deluxe to be very competitive in our pricing structure.
Part of my responsibility as an owner is to be consistently watchful of
our daily business expenses.”
“Our customers are directly affected each time I make a financial
decision. I must take advantage of everything I can do to lower our
overall cost of staying in business. I have recently re-negotiated with
our banker, Internet provider, and a freight forwarder. All of our
employees are encouraged to be aware of any way we can be ecologically
friendly to our environment in our daily work assignments.”
CJ explains, “Our goal is to maximize the 20,000 square feet of
warehouse space, providing over 2,000 SKU’s of product available for
same day shipping. Our Chicago-area based business allows for next day
freight arrival, at normal ground rates, for a large portion of the US.
We also provide next day air freight to all the USA, Japan, Europe and
most of Central and South America. Nu-Deluxe offers blind drop shipping.
This lowers the overall freight cost and speeds up the delivery cycle of
products sent directly to an end-user, with the reseller’s name and
return address showing as the point of origination.
CJ Knegten realized how important it is to work with good people. This
included those that work for your company, the people who buy from your
company, your vendors and your banker. Each group can help or hinder the
ongoing success of the business. He has always looked for people who
have knowledge and enthusiasm for helping the customer. A happy voice on
the other end of the telephone is always welcome.
Being a native of the Netherlands, CJ is in-tune with the globalization
of the market place. Nu-Deluxe actively imports and exports to Europe,
Asia, Canada, South and Central America. “The relatively low value of
the dollar is a plus when exporting out of the US. We have been able to
capitalize on the lessening value of the dollar. A good business person
is able to consistently take advantage of the changing market place. We
have a viable business plan to grow your customer base and increase the
items that are available for same day shipping.”
Nu-Deluxe’s state-of-the-art computer system enables all their customer
service reps to have immediate access to the availability of products.
Nu-Deluxe prides itself on treating each customer with respect. Although
they love a $20,000 order, the $200 order is treated with the same
customer care.
Their customer tracking system also enables your Nu-Deluxe rep to
contact the reseller in a timely fashion. “We often find our follow-up
call prompts the re-seller to get in tough with their retail buyer who
is ready to make another purchase. Many dealers use us as their back-up
to a missed follow-up call. We understand that the more we can help the
dealer, the more we add value to our customer–vendor relationship.
