Xerox Phaser 7700 style (Phaser 7700, 7750, 7760) - Introduction and Status Code - Part I By Britt Horvat
The Phaser 7700 style machines make some beautiful prints. It's not hard to see why they're quite popular out there. You'll be happy to know that these machines are approachable and more technician friendly than one might expect. All of the diagnostic features can be reached from the Control Panel. So… these things are worth fixing. Let's start this month by getting a leg-up on the meanings of the error codes and indicators as well. We'll also cover how to clear some of the codes from diagnostics. In future articles, we will have a more in-depth look into the diagnostics and also look at some of the consumable items and how to handle them.
These full color dry ink
laser printers use four identical drum cartridges and also employ an IBT
Belt (or Accumulat Most of the Fault Codes will show up on the machine's display along with fairly good descriptive messages. There will be displayed an "Error" code and then there are "Chain - Function" style fault codes in the background which may come up in error reports. Some of the codes (marked with asterisks) may require resetting from diagnostics. If your customer tries turning the machine off and back on a few times, then the machine locks up and it becomes necessary to go and clear the codes from the Service Mode. We'll cover the code reset functions available in Service Mode in this article and leave the other Service Mode functions for a future article. Error Code Listing: The following is a list of the Error Codes with their meaning. I've left off the Finisher codes since they were a bit too lengthy (28 finisher codes). Also, we would be providing very little information beyond the messages which will accompany the codes on the machine's display. Those messages are actually pretty helpful in sending you in the right direction. Clearing Fault Codes: For the codes which lock up the machine, a value gets placed into the NVM (Nonvolatile Memory) which prevents the machine from being used until you reset the code from diagnostics. To reset the codes, first enter "Service Diagnostics" mode. This is done by holding down the 'Back' and 'Info' buttons simultaneously while turning on the power. Then choose "NVRAM Access" and press 'OK'. Next highlight "Clear Tech Rep Faults" and press 'OK'. Finally, choose the code you want to reset and press 'OK' again. |
