CopEx

The Home of No Hog Wholesale

Bob Blais, the founding owner and President of CopEx, has always had a fascination for older copiers. While preparing for CopEx’s recent move to their new corporate headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island, Bob had several classic copiers he could not bear to leave behind. Luckily, the new, larger CopEx location allowed for enough room to fulfill his dream of creating a Copier Museum.

On December 9, 2010, over 200 invited guests gathered to attend the CopEx open house and Copier Museum grand opening. The highlight of the event was the revealing of a mystery time capsule that was shipped from Japan in 1967 and had been in Bob’s possession for 20 years. The sealed crate was broken, revealing a brand new Minoltafax 1714. The CopEx Copier Museum contains 18 copiers and related pieces of copier history. The Copier Classics in the museum include Xerox 3300II, Underwood Revolving Duplicator, Olivetti Copia 1050, and the iron horse Mita Copystar 900D.

Bob Blais shares, “I started the Copier Exchange over 20 years ago with a truck and a barn for a warehouse. Our original idea was to exchange traded-in copiers between dealers for a fee. Thus was born ‘The Copier Exchange’.”

CopEx buys and sells a full spectrum of used and off-lease copiers and multi-functional products. Bob Blais explains, “The key to our business is accurate representation. Not every machine is a creampuff. But that’s OK. What is important is that we call a creampuff a creampuff, and a parts machine a parts machine. We are so confident of our technical knowledge, testing procedures, inspection process, tracking, storage, preparing for shipping and delivery, that CopEx offers a money back guarantee on every piece of equipment we sell.”

CopEx has built a stellar reputation for enabling office equipment dealers to obtain quality used copier equipment. Bob continues, “Our main commitment has always been to the independent copier dealer. At CopEx we know and understand the needs and frustrations of buying used equipment. We champion ourselves as the home of “No Hog Wholesale.”

CopEx is able to balance the needs of the independent copier dealer, leasing companies, large scale exporting buyers, sellers and freight companies. Each has a different need and profitability price point. CopEx has been able to maintain the equilibrium of matching their clients’ needs with available off lease and used machines.

“We soon realized the mix of brands was insufficient to accommodate the needs of our growing list of customers. In our search to fulfill their purchasing requests we began to buy and sell copiers. Fast forward 20 years: Today CopEx has over 40,000 square feet of warehousing space in Providence Rhode Island, a fleet of vehicles, and hundreds of satisfied clients throughout the USA, Canada, Asia, North and South America.”

The CopEx warehouse staff has trained under the Japanese inspired 5S System. This encompasses procedures that include Sorting, Straightening, Setting in Order (keep only that which is necessary), Systematic Cleaning, Standardizing, Sustaining Self Discipline, Safety and Security. After evaluation, all machines are cleaned and shrink wrapped with cardboard corner protectors. The glass is protected with bubble wrap.

Selling used equipment directly supports the USA economy. When a new copy machine is purchased in America, the majority of the profit is made by the overseas manufacturer. When a used copier is sold in America, usually 100% of the profits stay within the local community. CopEx has a long time commitment to community involvement. They have been sponsoring the Special Olympics in their area for over two decades, and they donate equipment to non-profit groups. CopEx understands the importance of giving back to our local community.

Every piece of equipment CopEx sells must be purchased from someone else. They are in constant need of both buyers and sellers. CopEx emphasizes the sale and purchase of Ricoh, Canon, Toshiba, Sharp and Panasonic. They welcome inquiries on all makes and models of equipment. CopEx encourages their clients to both buy from them and sell to them on a regular basis.

CopEx has been helping improve the Earth’s sustainability for over 20 years. CopEx offers a Green alternative to scrapping used copiers. Buying and selling used equipment helps to fulfill a company’s green initiatives. Each newly manufactured copier releases an average of over 700 pounds of carbon dioxide gas. The carbon footprint of a rebuilt copier is near zero.

CopEx offers several buying and selling incentive programs. CopEx Bucks can be earned with every transaction providing an additional rebate on both buying and selling transactions.
The CopEx 150 Exchange provides a 50% bonus on all equipment the dealer sells to CopEx. This bonus cash incentive can be used when buying other used equipment from CopEx.

Bob Blais and the entire staff of CopEx thank their long term clients who have helped them grow and expand. Their new, 40,000 square foot warehouse located in Rhode Island offers the perfect central location to offer free, local, scheduled equipment pick up in the North East, Eastern Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia. CopEx has familiarity with worldwide shippers. They specialize in full container exports to Asia, Mexico, Central and South America. Latin American buyers can se habla Español with Fernando Garcia who can help with all the details for buying and shipping internationally.

Big conglomerates, leasing companies, OEM branches, independent local dealers and hopefully you, all do business with CopEx. Before you fill your dumpster with old equipment, give CopEx a call. There is still a market for some analog equipment. CopEx regularly sells and ships full containers of older equipment overseas. One company’s trash can be another company’s useful equipment. Do not throw your sellable inventory away. CopEx can be your newly discovered profitability partner.

Bob Blais and his entire staff invite you to visit the CopEx booth at ITEX in Washington, D.C., March 22-23. Lorna Blais will be on hand to talk with you about how CopEx became HIPAA and DOD authorized to issue a hard drive data cleansing Certificate of Completion. Lorna can also answer all your questions about selling equipment to CopEx. Learn more about CopEx at ITEX.

No request is too small or too large. CopEx can buy or sell a single copier, purchase a large, multi-machine off lease return or fill a container ready for overseas shipment. Their export business allows them to pick and choose the highest quality copiers for their domestic resellers. Each machine that is received into the CopEx warehouse is listed by serial number, accessories, meter reading, cosmetic condition, functionality, copy quality, and networkability. All aspects of multifunctional equipment are tested and recorded. The key to CopEx’s reputation is built around providing an accurate representation of the equipment being offered. No surprises.
