When Wholesalers Need Bulk OEM Supplies In Stock, Today—

Call Plus Supply International

By Jamie Hamilton

Wholesalers should know: Plus Supply International has the inventory in stock, today, to meet any high-quantity demands.  “Recently, a customer called in who needed 1,600 pieces of toner,” said Moses Friedman,  “And we had it in stock for him.  That’s just an example of the quantities we keep in stock.”

In fact, Plus Supply (started in 1979) keeps their 60,000-sq.-ft. facility stocked to the rafters with full lines of OEM copier and fax machine supplies, so you don’t have to.  Simply send Plus Supply your monthly usage forecast of OEM toner, cartridges, developer, and drums, and they will send out your shipments as you need them.

Or, if you need large quantities of products to go out today, that is no problem—orders made at Plus Supply before 2 p.m. EST go out the same day, regardless of the size of the order.  “Our main strength is that nine out of 10 times we have it in stock—when you need it, we have it.” says Michael Schlesinger, company president.

Also, they pride themselves on keeping competitive prices in a competitive industry. Schlesinger adds: “That’s why we call ourselves PSI—we say that it stands for Price, Service, and Inventory.”

So, if you can’t find it in bulk anywhere, perhaps you should contact Plus Supply International.  It could mean the difference from meeting customers’ all-but-unreasonable demands—and not.

OEM Product Lines

While Plus Supply does have some supplies for printers—including wide-format printers—the majority of their inventory consists of full lines of copier and fax machine supplies.  If you need a hard-to-find item or are in search of something recent, Plus Supply’s meticulously organized, in-depth inventory could be the resource you are looking for.

Brands of high-end machine supplies they carry include (but are not limited to) Toshiba, Panasonic, Canon, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Kyocera Mita, RISO, Sharp, Muratec, and Lanier.  Plus Supply carries many full product lines from each manufacturer, along with in-stock capabilities of toner, cartridges, drums and developer products.  All in all, Plus Supply carries over 2,000 sku’s.

Other supplies for copier and fax machines can be found at Plus Supply, such as ribbons, refill kits and microfiche toner for some lines.  Sign up to see their Inventory Stock List at www.plussupply.com and view online what they have available daily.

Plus Supply has developed direct relationships with OEMs, allowing it to have the buying power to be competitively priced and well stocked on inventory.  What’s more, Plus Supply only carries genuine, OEM product.  “We have an impeccable reputation,” says Schlesinger.  “All of our product is 100% OEM product.”

Supplies Plus Customer Service

Plus Supply’s customer service philosophy is based on honesty.  “If we don’t have it, we don’t say that we do.  We tell it like it is,” says Schlesinger.  “A lot of times this business is based on quotes.  I only quote what I can deliver on today.  So, when the order comes in, it gets delivered.”

Also, Plus Supply has implemented a triple-check strategy that ensures customers receive exactly what they ordered.  The triple-check system works like this:  The sales department takes the order and checks to make sure it matches a customer’s PO.  Then the order is entered into the system.  After data entry, an office member double-checks the order that has been placed.  Lastly, before the order is available to ship, the order is checked by a third person to make sure the right product made it onto the pallet.

“We have a zero tolerance as far as mistakes are concerned,” Schlesinger says.  “Our orders are very detailed, so to speak. We can ship $10,000 of product and it could be 20 of this, 12 of this—you know, 40 different sku’s.  Sometimes, it could be  $100,000 and it could be 200 different sku’s.”

“So, we work very hard up front so that there are very few mistakes—so we don’t have to deal with that later, he adds. “You know—wrong item, wrong location; some of our customers have multiple locations, so everything gets triple checked.”

Plus Supply History

A lot has changed with Plus Supply in the 26 years since its inception. Not only did it change its product to continue the success, but its customer base as well.

Plus Supply was started in 1979 as a stationery supplies vendor, at the time selling to end-users.  Then, as the market progressed, Staples and Office Depot became dominant fixtures.  “You just couldn’t compete with them,” Schlesinger says.

That’s why, in 1989, Plus Supply changed the business to selling imaging supplies.  But that’s not all—they also decided to transform their business model.  They began selling imaging supplies to the large wholesalers that once supplied them with their stationery supplies.  This was their niche:  While the larger stationery suppliers already had their paper, pen and organizer markets nailed down, the OEM imaging supplies market was still growing.

This change of industry focus paid off.  Today, Plus Supply is one of the largest distributors of OEM supplies in the U.S.  Their business spans the national markets as well as addressing solutions of large import/export needs.  With almost three decades in business, Plus Supply has built relationships with OEMs that may account for their buying power, which leads to a large inventory of competitively priced goods.

Plus Supply Future Development

In the future, Plus Supply hopes to continue its growth over another 25 years.  To do that, they will look into expanding into the western United States with more shipping locations and warehousing that will accommodate large volumes of inventory across the U.S.

Along with their physical growth, Plus Supply looks forward to continuing its relationships with current customers and watching them grow, as well as developing long-lasting relationships with new customers.  They will continue to attend tradeshows and advertise in trade publications to promote development.

Their marketing strategy is to remain the number-one option for U.S. imaging supplies wholesalers who need large volumes of product shipped out today, or on a monthly forecast to meet their individual needs.\
